We were honored to be joined by Erin Edwards at our Riverside East Rotary meeting to learn about the Blue Zones Initiative launching in Riverside.
The Blue Zones Project focuses on improving community well-being and increasing longevity by making healthy choices easier through changes in environment, policy, and lifestyle. The initiative aims to create a ripple effect of better health across the city.

On June 10th, Riverside East Rotary held its final Board Meeting of the Rotary year, which runs from July through June. As tradition goes, a new president and board take over at the start of each new Rotary year. This meeting marked the end of Matt Barth’s term as president, and we look forward to starting the new year next month under the leadership of incoming president Gary Christmas.
Michelle Davis, the Director of Riverside Housing and Human Services, joined us to share updates on the city’s efforts to address housing stability and support vulnerable populations. She discussed ongoing programs aimed at preventing homelessness, expanding affordable housing options, and connecting residents with essential social services. Her insights highlighted the city’s work in addressing this important issue.
Today we were joined by Alex Arana from Riverside Meals on Wheels. Alex shared insights into the organization’s mission to deliver nutritious meals and friendly visits to seniors and individuals with limited mobility throughout the Riverside community. He spoke about the vital role volunteers play in ensuring no one is left isolated or hungry, and highlighted upcoming opportunities for community involvement.

Today we were joined by Robert Williams from Riverside County Regional Parks. The Riverside County Regional Park focuses on providing high-quality recreational opportunities and preserving important features of the County’s Natural, Cultural and Historical heritage throughout Riverside.
At our Club Meeting on Wednesday, Riverside East Rotary presented a $2,000 check in support of the Riverside County Esports program, demonstrating our commitment to empowering youth through innovation and opportunity.
The following evening, we attended the Riverside County Esports Awards Celebration—an exciting event dedicated to recognizing creativity, talent, and community spirit in the world of student esports. The celebration highlighted standout esports clubs, honored the leaders and educators behind them, and showcased the finalists of the Student Fan Art Showcase. Guests also enjoyed a preview of the 2024–2025 esports season and applauded this year’s winners and rising stars.
